Why we exist
Money topics are different from other content: getting them wrong hurts people. That is why every page follows a stricter rule — financial claims must come from regulators, academic research or official disclosures, never from vendor marketing.
One rule governs everything we publish: if a claim can't be traced to a named source — a vendor's pricing page, a regulator's guidance, or a reputable study — it doesn't get published.
How we review
- Hands-on testing. We create accounts, read the fee schedules and disclosures, and compare the same tasks across every tool we cover.
- Source hierarchy. Tier 1: SEC, FINRA and CFPB materials, academic finance research, and official fund documents. Tier 2: vendor pricing pages and Form ADV filings, each with an "as of" date. Tier 3: reputable press, for background only.
- Expert review. Every guide is reviewed by a registered investment professional before publication, against the primary literature.
- Corrections. We fix errors, note them on the page, and you can report one any time.
